FurMark Troubleshooting Guide

A FurMark failure is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Return the system to stock settings, verify drivers and cooling, then change one variable at a time so the cause remains clear.

FurMark Does Not Start

Confirm that Windows and the GPU driver recognize the intended adapter, reinstall the current supported driver when necessary, and check whether security software quarantined a required file. Download a clean copy from a trusted source.

Black Screen or Driver Timeout

Remove GPU overclocking and aggressive undervolting, reboot, and test again briefly. Check power connectors and the power supply rating. A repeated timeout can reflect driver corruption, unstable clocks, heat or hardware trouble.

Artifacts and Freezes

Colored dots, flashing shapes and corrupted geometry often accompany instability. Stop the run, restore default clock and memory settings, allow the card to cool, and compare with another demanding application.

Low FPS or Wrong GPU

On dual-GPU laptops, use Windows Graphics settings or the vendor control panel to select the high-performance adapter. Confirm the preset, resolution, power mode and whether the laptop is connected to power.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I reinstall the driver first?

Start by returning clocks to default and rebooting. A clean driver installation is reasonable when crashes began after an update or driver corruption is suspected.

Do artifacts always mean a dead GPU?

No. Heat, memory overclocking, power delivery and driver problems can also cause artifacts, but recurring errors should be taken seriously.

Why does FurMark use the integrated GPU?

Windows or the vendor driver may assign the power-saving adapter. Select the high-performance GPU for FurMark in graphics settings.
